How to re-contract with Singtel for more savings

I am a loyal Singtel customer because I believe that they are one of the better telcos in the market.

At least I have rarely encountered any connection issue throughout decades of using their service even when travelling in the tunnels, or hiking through the forest.

Singtel’s loyalty reward program is miserable though, in my opinion. Gone are the days when I simply call in to ask for a mobile re-contract voucher. The customer service officer now tells me they have none available for me.

I recently called Singtel’s hotline to re-contract my TV plan. After a series of automated questions which thankfully did not take for very long, I managed to speak to a customer service officer. I asked for offers to re-contract and she directed me to the Singtel website.

I had to handle the 24-month re-contract on my own in order to get 2 months of subscription free of charge.

There is a better way to re-contract

2 months’ worth of free subscription was not attractive to me.

I discovered a better way to re-contract my Singtel TV plan through the Singtel app.

I “spoke” to Shirley the virtual assistant who connected me to a customer service officer. Yes, a human being! Upon understanding my needs, the customer service officer obtained my details and arranged for the sales department to engage me. Short and sweet.

Within half an hour, the sales department called and I was given a 6 months free Singtel TV pack!

That’s a savings of additional 4 months (about additional hundred bucks) as compared to signing up online by myself.

The salesperson further offered other perks if I agree to continue to re-contract my Singtel broadband subscription as well. All I had to do was to give a verbal agreement through the recorded line. No paperwork nor online submission on my own.

While Singtel does not give reward loyal customers, there are other ways that you can optimize your savings.

Tip: Always check the validity of your contract since Singtel does not remind you of your contract expiry.

Do note that Singtel will start charging you for the add-ons after the contractual period. If you are not ready to take the plunge to re-contract, you can opt out of the additional add-ons such as auto-roaming.
