$676 Million in Federal Aid Available to Florida Homeowners

Many struggling Florida homeowners don’t know about the Homeowner Assistance Funds from the American Rescue Plan. This money – up to $50,000 per household – is available to help families financially impacted by the pandemic to pay for things like mortgage payments, homeowner insurance, property taxes, and utility bills.

Florida was allocated $676 million for this program, and as of March of this year, the program is up and running through Florida’s Department of Economic Opportunity.

What Can the Money Be Used For?

If you believe that you might be eligible for homeowner assistance, go online and apply today! This money is ready and available to help folks in need, and can be used for everything from:

Mortgage payment assistance

Homeowner’s utilities

Homeowner’s internet service

Homeowner’s flood and property insurance

HOA fees and condo association fees

Delinquent property taxes

The bottom line is that we estimate the program has the potential to stop up to 20,000 foreclosures.

Eligible Homeowners:

Must have experienced a financial hardship after, or that continued after, January 21, 2020.
Must meet income qualifications. (I ncome is 100% or less of the Area Median Income in Tier 1 less than $150% of the Area Median Income as part of Tier 2).
Must be a homeowner and be requesting assistance for your primary residence.
